Each week, Gary and Bristol shine the light on one of our local residents who help to make Kiss Country the greatest place in the world to live, and this week, our recipient is Joey Presley. When I saw this week's nomination letter, which was submitted by Joey's son, Joseph, I just knew we had to get in contact with him. Take a look at the letter his son wrote:

Please forgive me because I am not good at these things, but this has to be said.

Where do I even start. Joey Presley is truly a man's man. My father Joey wears many hats and sometimes I think it's too much because I never see the man, but it is all for a very good reason. His titles include Battalion Chief, Nurse, and on certain occasions Deputy Presley. He first started his career as a public servant at Greenwood fire department 33 years ago. He eventually transferred to the Shreveport fire department and worked through the ranks to make Battalion Chief and now he is about to retire, but he won't stop there, he is also a full time Emergency room RN as well as a reserve deputy for Caddo Parish Sheriff's office. This man works all hours of the day and night helping those who truly need it. I have seen him literally give his shirt off of his back to someone who was without. Anyone who knows my dad knows he is one of the hardest workers around and nothing can stop him. He has received several awards from the fire department such as paramedic of the year. He lives and breathes for helping others. I work hard every day to be at least half the man my father is when it comes to everything. Being in a different public service role myself, I know I have some pretty big shoes to fill because of the amazing imprint he has left on so many peoples’ lives from across different backgrounds. When my dad is off duty, he is never "off duty" there have been numerous times where we are out as a family, and he stopped whatever we were doing to help someone in need. From fighting fires and pushing IV's to being a everyday father he never fails at what he does. Complete strangers have come up to him while we have been out and public and thanked him for helping save them or their family member from whatever crisis has occurred. Of course, he isn't the only person to do this, but he is too humble to say anything about it so I will. He deserves to be recognized for all of the things he has done. I'm sure if he finds out about this then I will most likely get a "tal king to" but it is so worth it for this heart of gold to be recognized.
Dad if you ever get to read or hear this, you are truly deserving of caught in the act award so don't get too mad at me! There are too many calls, too many patients, and way too many incidents for me to list but on the behalf of everyone you serve, work with, love and help, thank you for everything you do. Love you dad.

Thank you for being so amazing, Joey! And because you've been "Caught in the Act," the gang at Silver Star has a $100 gift certificate for you!

Take a listen to the phone call we made to Joey to let him know that he was this week's Kiss Country Caught in the Act Award recipient.
