When you fully comprehend all that Joey does for the rescue, he might need to be called "Superman!"

It's Joey's selfless devotion to these animals and the rescue that have caught the attention and admiration of co-volunteer Anna Smith.

In her nomination letter about Joey, we see his compassion and kindness and fully appreciate the fact that he's driven by love and not by recognition.

However, we can't allow another day go by without shining the light on this amazing guy and recognizing him as this week's recipient of the Kiss Country Caught in the Act Award!

I volunteer at a local cat rescue called Shreveport Bossier Animal Rescue. One of our volunteers, Joey Doles, goes above and beyond all the time. He is our cat whisperer. He handles our most feral and fighting cats. He has a heartbreaking, demanding job that requires he be on call 24 hours 3-5 days a week, yet he stills runs 3 shifts a week, comes in whenever he’s ask or there’s extra work to be done. Because we’re a cat shelter we have a LOT of heavy, stinky trash that the garbage collectors either refuse to pick up or give us problems picking up. Joey will load up all this gross trash in his truck, wash out the trash cans, and haul it away. Any repairs needed - Joey does. He never complains, never fails to come through for us. He hates bothering anyone asking for help. He loves our cats. And he's a devoted son. I wish we could pay him for all he does, but no one gets paid. We’re strictly volunteers. He isn’t looking for recognition. He does all this because we need it done. He’s a hero to more lives that can be counted. Mostly cats, but also our adopters who wouldn’t have cats to love if not for all Joey’s hard work and dedication.

Joey Doles, because you've been 'Caught in the Act' the gang at Silver Star Smokehouse have a $100 Gift Certificate for you and the family to come have dinner!

Take a listen to the phone call we made to Joey to let him know that he was this week's Caught In The Act Award recipient.

LOOK: See how much gasoline cost the year you started driving

To find out more about how has the price of gas changed throughout the years, Stacker ran the numbers on the cost of a gallon of gasoline for each of the last 84 years. Using data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics (released in April 2020), we analyzed the average price for a gallon of unleaded regular gasoline from 1976 to 2020 along with the Consumer Price Index (CPI) for unleaded regular gasoline from 1937 to 1976, including the absolute and inflation-adjusted prices for each year.

Read on to explore the cost of gas over time and rediscover just how much a gallon was when you first started driving.
