Jason Aldean made his first public appearance after the mass shooting in Las Vegas at the Route 91 Music Festival that left 59 dead and 489 injured. Jason Aldean was not scheduled to open, or be a part of "Saturday Night Live", he had cancelled his shows for the rest of the week.

Jason Aldean made a surprise appearance on "Saturday Night Live". I was surprised to see the cold open, instead of a political skit in true "SNL" fashion, Jason Aldean took to the stage, with his band behind him and said “This week, we witnessed one of the worst tragedies in American history. Like everyone, I’m struggling to understand what happened that night and how to pick up the pieces and start to heal. So many people are hurting. There are children, parents, brothers, sisters, friends. They’re all part of our family. So I want to say to them, we hurt for you and we hurt with you. But you can be sure that we’re going to walk through these tough times together, every step of the way. Because when America is at its best, our bond and our spirit — it’s unbreakable.” Jason Aldean covered the late Tom Petty's "I Won't Back Down" It was a beautiful tribute to all the victims of the Las Vegas shooting, and it was our perfect reminder that we are a music loving family who is more united than ever.
