The New Orleans Saints will attempt to knock out another punch on their Bird Gauntlet card tonight on Thursday Night Football. They're taking on the Arizona Cardinals in a game that will feature two teams playing under expectations.

But while the Cardinals have their starting quarterback Kyler Murray ready to go, the Saints are dealing with a ton of issues at the position. So even though no one likes excuses, the Saints have some. Especially since we're only talking about quarterback, and not all of the other injuries the Saints are dealing with.

Just looking at quarterbacks, the Saints' starter Jameis Winston has been out for almost a month with back and ankles injuries. He's probably not playing tonight. Then backup quarterback Andy Dalton was injured, and he has been limited at practice all week. If Dalton can go, most Saints reporters believe that if Dalton and Winston are both healthy enough to play, Dalton will start. However if both are too injured to play, it will come down to fan-favorite Taysom Hill.

Hill has only started 9 games for the Saints at quarterback (with a 7-2-record), but has started a ton more for the team...just not a QB. He's the Swiss Army Knife of the NFL, playing 5-6 different positions for the Saints every year.

While Hill was a QB in college at BYU, outside of his time in Green Bay, he's never been viewed as a QB in the NFL. Back in 2017 Hill played as a quarterback for the Packers in three preseason games, but once he became a Saint, he's been used in other ways.

But there have been times where Hill has been pressed into starting, and that short era where people thought he might replace Drew Brees. The Saints have leaned on Hill in the starting QB role, but have had to drastically change the offense to make it work. If he is going to be the starter tonight against the Cards, lets hope they practiced an offensive scheme that takes advantage.
