Another Complete Closure of I-20 Scheduled This Weekend
At some point, we will be able to look back at these "construction" days and be able to laugh.

But, rest assured, for I-20 in Northwest Louisiana, those days aren't anywhere in the near future.
According to the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development, this coming Saturday, February 1, both the eastbound and westbound directions of I-20 at the LA 531 interchange near Minden will be closed.
DOTD advises this closure will go on from 7:00 pm on February 1 to 6:00 am on February 2, and is necessary to allow the contractor to remove temporary formwork on the newly constructed bridge. This ensures the work can be carried out safely without risk to the traveling public.
Through traffic on I-20 will be diverted to the off-ramps, and back onto the interstate via the on-ramps at the interchange.
While a complete stoppage isn't the best possible news for drivers, DOTD does give us a little light at the end of the tunnel with the news that the project is currently about 73% complete with work underway on the roundabouts that will help improve traffic flow onto and off the interstate ramps.
Much of the major construction work on the new overpass is finished. Once traffic is swapped to the new bridge, the contractor will begin removal of the old structure. The entire project is anticipated to wrap up in Summer 2025.
Of course, as with any type of construction project like this, work will be performed "weather permitting", so inclement weather could delay, extend or alter scheduled work days/hours.
DOTD appreciates your patience and reminds you to please drive with caution through the construction site and be on the lookout for work crews and their equipment.
