Earlier this morning I had the privilege of competing in the "Grocery Run" for the Food Bank of Northwest Louisiana funded by Boomtown Casino.  My partner for the event was the awesome Annie Andersen from KMSS Fox 33.

Other competing teams included Rod Centers, GM for Boomtown and partner Martha Marak from the Food bank and the team of Domonique Benn from KSLA and Alan English from The Times.

Our mission was to make a mad dash through Brookshires on Line Avenue and fill our cart with as many non-perishable food items as we could grab in sixty seconds. Boomtown had agreed to donate to the Food Bank, the total dollar amount of what was grabbed by all three competing teams.

Annie and I did extremely well, gathering nearly $800 of groceries in the allotted time, but it was only good enough for a second place finish.  The winners were Rod Centers and Martha Marak grabbing nearly $1,000 of groceries!

Of course, the real winners were those in need of service by the Food Bank of Northwest Louisiana as Rod Centers from Boomtown made the announcement that the $2,200 grabbed by the teams just wasn't enough and they would increase their donation to a whopping $5,000!

Way to go Boomtown!  And thanks for having us out to help.

Course, when we do it next year, I'll be in better shape and ready to wear the Gold!!!
