Here we are, the most volatile time of the year in regards to weather.  Every spring without fail, the wildest weather hits the South with a vengeance.  So far this year, we have had some pretty big and violent storms producing lots of rain, hail, high winds, and even tornadoes - some of which were incredibly destructive and in some cases fatal.

If you've ever found yourself at a loss due to your lack of meteorological expertise and wished that you knew more about the scary, swirling black clouds above - you're in luck!  According to KALB, the National Weather Service (NWS) is hosting 2 Skywarn Spotter classes over the next couple of weeks.

The classes are designed to teach those with a novice-level background how to properly identify possibly dangerous weather situations and exactly how to report it to the NWS.  This training could save lives and property by getting the right information to the right people more quickly.  You'd basically be a severe weather sleeper-agent!

Currently, the fully-online and free classes will start on May 14th and 20th.  While the classes are free, you do need to register.  Sign up for the first session by clicking here, or the second by clicking here.  Not only will you be taught how to identify dangerous weather conditions, you'll also get an official Skywarn Spotter certificate!
