To make those repairs, Union Pacific Railroad will require traffic that would normally use the intersection to find an alternate route on Tuesday, December 9.

In a notice from the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development, drivers are advised that on that date, Tuesday, December 9, the inside lanes of LA 523 (E. Flournoy Lucas Road) at its intersection with LA 1 (Youree Drive) in Shreveport will be closed.

This includes the eastbound left turn lane and the westbound inside lane at the Union Pacific Railroad crossing located near this intersection.

DOTD notes that these lane closures are scheduled to take place from approximately 9:00 am to 3:00 pm for this one day only, and that through traffic on Youree Drive will not be impacted by this work.

Of course, this work can only be done "weather permitting", so inclement weather could delay, extend or alter in other ways the scheduled work day/hours.

DOTD appreciates your patience and reminds you to please drive with caution through the construction site and be on the lookout for work crews and their equipment. Remember to leave plenty of room between you and the vehicle in front of you.

Area residents should exercise caution when driving, walking, or biking near an active construction zone.
