SHREVEPORT, LA - A reminder from local police agencies to be sure you never get behind the wheel after consuming too much alcohol. In fact, Shreveport Police and local law enforcement agencies are teaming up to get impaired drivers off our roads.

There will be a DWI checkpoint on Friday, August 25, 2023 somewhere in east Shreveport. This checkpoint will be set up by Shreveport Police will begin at about 9:00 p.m. on Friday and run until 4:00 a.m. Saturday morning. This checkpoint is also part of a collaborative effort between Shreveport Police, Louisiana State Police, and the Caddo Sheriff’s Office to emphasize the local commitment to making the streets of our city safe for everyone.

If you pull up to the checkpoint, you will be briefly stopped by officers. This checkpoint will target drivers who may be operating a vehicle while impaired but are not limited to this offense. The Regional LHSC “BAT Mobile” will be utilized in this operation.

Funding for the checkpoint is provided by a grant from the Louisiana Highway Safety Commission as part of the continuing effort to help curb the number of impaired drivers who take to the streets each year in our community.
