Drivers in North Bossier Parish have had to dodge the two closed LA 160 bridges over Cypress Bayou and Cypress Bayou Relief for over a year, but it appears that routine delay is nearing the end.

In a notification from the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development, we learn that the major construction work on the bridges is complete, however, the contractor still needs to complete work building the roadway to tie it into the new bridges.

These bridges are located in close proximity to each other, just east of the intersection with LA 3, about 6.5 miles north of the Town of Benton.

The initial closure of these bridges began in October of 2024, and in the first notice of that closure , motorists were advised that the work was scheduled to be completed in the Spring of 2026, however, it would appear DOTD is far ahead of schedule and is likely to be completed next month, in mid-January, 2026.

Of course, this is contingent on weather and other factors that could possibly delay work, but it would appear this nightmare is nearly over.

DOTD appreciates your patience and reminds you to please drive with caution through the construction site and be on the lookout for work crews and their equipment. Remember to leave plenty of room between you and the vehicle in front of you.

Area residents should exercise caution when driving, walking, or biking near an active construction zone.

The Top 10 Country Albums of 2025

The top country albums of 2025 prove the genre has room for all kinds of artists — as long as they're authentically themselves.
The Top 3 albums on this list are so different from one another that they almost shouldn’t be in competition at all. A traditionalist, a genre outsider and a pop-country duo represent some of the very best country music released this year, and the one thing they have in common is that each leaned fully into their strengths.
Staff opinion and reader input made up the bulk of Taste of Country's Top 10 list, with streaming numbers, sales data and chart performance rounding out our decisions.
