Chance For Severe Weather This Afternoon in NWLA
Strong to severe thunderstorms will apparently form later this afternoon that could make things somewhat dangerous for a bit.
The National Weather Service Storm Prediction Center is warning those of us here in Northwest Louisiana that we might see some pretty hairy storms later this afternoon, but according to the forecast map above, that they released this morning, the real threat will be to the east and north of us.
As you can see, we do have a "medium" potential for tornadoes this afternoon and evening. During the same time frame we could see half dollar to golf ball sized hail and maximum wind speeds from 70 to 80 miles per hour.
However, if you plan to travel to say Arcadia, Ruston, Monroe, Southern Arkansas, or anywhere in that immediate area, the NWS says those areas have an "Enhanced Risk" of these severe storms with large hail, damaging winds and possible tornadoes.
Of course the area is already under a "Lake Wind Advisory", so it might not be the wisest idea to plan a fishing trip at this time.
