Carla Baker Is This Week’s Caught in the Act Recipient

Minton Moore is only one of a great multitude of people who've been blessed to have Carla Baker step into their world, but it was her nomination letter that led to our understanding of how incredible Carla is.

Not only did Ms. Carla serve Bossier Parish for decades as an educator, her love for children spilled into the children's ministry at church and into the lives of so many, including Minton Moore.

It's Carla's love and willingness to serve that made her a shoe-in for this week's Kiss Country Caught in the Act Award.

Theres truly not enough positive words to describe this lady. She has been a blessing to the haughton community for many years.Before i met her, at a church social in 2009, she had already retired from being an elementary school teacher. For many years she represented Bossier Parish schools well. For years, she had also been involved with the childrens ministry at church-volunterring at VBS and being a sunday school teacher. To be taught or led by her meant you would be loved on, cared for and encouraged to do big things! During these busy years she found out she had breast cancer, she fought the battle and defeated cancer and refused to let it deter her from continuing to help and care for others. These health challenges made her stronger for the great task that was in her future. did i mention she raised 5 girls during this too? that is a hard but highly rewarding job as well. When i met her, she instantly became a second mom to me and a very importamt part of my kids lives. Shes a mentor, prayer warrior and great friend to have! It was at her house that i announced i was pregnant with my daughter-a memory ill al ways cherish! She has been there during the good, bad and ugly. She has never missed a birth of my kids, never missed a birthday party and never nissed a school event. She has babysat, cooked meals for us, but most importantly, she listened. She has provided wise advice when i needed it most. She has prayed over us more tines than i can count. The past few years she has been given the opportunity to help raise her great grandson! She has been doing a great job! Even though her birthday is approaching,
i feel like chasing a toddler has kept her young! When i think about all she has been through, I feel she has become the epitome of strength, selfishness and faithfulness. That is why she deserves this recognition and she definitely deserves a night out more than anyone i know!She is loved, she is respected and adored! She is our Auntie Carla.
