Why is One Caddo Parish School Allegedly Serving Expired Milk?
While you can't see the expiration date in the picture above, one Caddo Parish parent says their child sent them a screenshot of his lunch plate and told them that the milk was expired.
The picture you see above was posted to Reddit 5 days ago and allegedly came from the parent of a student at Caddo Magnet High School.
While everything you see on the internet isn't true, according to Reddit user prstele01, their son attends Caddo Magnet High School and sent them this picture of his school lunch and told them that his milk was expired. I don't know about you, but a meat pie and corn seemed a little skimpy to me so I did some digging.
According to the Caddo Schools' February lunch menu, other items were offered that day. The menu listed for February 8th included Natchitoches meat pies, corn on the cob, glazed baby carrots, chilled Mandarin oranges, fresh fruit, white or chocolate milk, and potable water. I'm guessing this particular student didn't like the look of the other foods on offer. I won't lie, that Natchitoches meat pie doesn't look half bad.
What I have an issue with is offering our children expired milk. You have to give your body fuel to learn and that fuel is food. I'd never ask anyone to drink expired milk. Of course, the Reddit post doesn't say whether or not the student tried to exchange the milk. Obviously, accidents happen, and I'm sure the school cafeteria would have rectified the problem if it was brought to their attention.
