Caddo Deputies Make Arrest For ‘Planned Attack’ And Hate Crime

Caddo Parish Sheriff Steve Prator's department made an arrest this week on some serious charges.

In a release, the Caddo Parish Sheriff's Office says they have arrested a man for what is being called a "planned attack". The release says that Deputies arrested 41-year-old Patrick Duffy after he allegedly sent messages about an attack.

According to the Sheriff's Office, Duffy communicated that he was planning to "blow up" the Caddo Parish Courthouse, as well as "kill African Americans" in Shreveport. The Sheriff's Office says Duffy communicated these plans to someone he knew, and their office was alerted to the threat on Monday afternoon. Deputies were able to obtain a warrant for Duffy's arrest from Judge Chris Victory, and brought him in Monday night. The Sheriff's Office says he was arrested at his home.

Duffy has been charged with one count of Communicating False Information of Planned Arson and one count of a Hate Crime. Bond was set at $100,000, with $50,000 set for each charge.

After his arrest, Duffy was booked into the Caddo Correctional Center.

The threat came just one day after our nation's latest deadly mass shooting, where 4 people were killed inside a mall in Indiana. Earlier this year a racially motivated mass shooting in Buffalo, NY cost 10 people their lives. In addition to the other rationally motivated murders in the US in recent weeks. In today's climate, a threat of this magnitude in Shreveport will clearly cause a swift reaction from law enforcement. As shown by the Caddo Parish Sheriff's Office making the arrest of Duffy the same day the threat is brought to their attention.
