In a post on social media, the Bossier Parish Police Jury is asking all Bossier citizens to volunteer to help out for the annual big parish-wide cleanup day, "Operation Clean Sweep" on Saturday, April 18.

Beginning at 8:00 am, participants are asked to meet at the Bossier Sheriff's Viking Drive Substation where they will be given instruction, provided "Operation Clean Sweep" t-shirt and trash bags, and sent to various locations to remove litter and help improve the appearance of our community. T-shirts are provided while supplies last, so go ahead and register quickly.

Individuals and groups can register and even choose the location(s) they wish to clean up. To aid in the effort, it is the hope, as in past years, the Bossier Parish Police Jury will provide its grappling truck to assist with the collection of large items, such as refrigerators and old stoves, brought in by residents to the Airline High School parking lot.

In a statement regarding Operation Clean Sweep, Bossier Parish Sheriff Julian Whittington said, “We are asking community leaders, Neighborhood Watch Groups, businesses, churches, clubs, organizations, school groups, and individuals to join us as we clean up the parish.”  He adds, “You can start in your own neighborhood or subdivision to pick up trash and debris, or venture out to other areas that need cleaning.”

Volunteers will then bring their bagged trash to the Viking Drive Substation and enjoy a free seafood lunch provided to all registered volunteers.
