Hamburgers and Hotdogs are for amateur tailgaters and we take tailgating just as seriously as our football in Kiss Country. I know who to go to for the best Jambalaya, who does the best fish fry and whose 7 layer dip is heavenly. Everyone seems to have their specialty come game day. AND I LOVE THEM ALL! Here is a list of the best tailgating foods in Kiss Country, add your favorites! (And don't spare any details! YUM! Football season!!!)

    Jambalaya

Take a couple heaping scoops of rice and add all those things holy in Louisiana and the Deep South: crawfish, chicken, maybe even some Andouille sausage. Of course, within most Jambalaya recipes is the official holy trinity of spices: onions, bell peppers, celery plus all those spicy goodies that will warm every football fan up on game day! Jambalaya is a Louisiana football fan favorite and it makes feeding the masses easy.

    Fish Fry

I love to see the propane tanks out on game day, that usually means something good is about to be poppin', fryin', or boilin' in a large silver pot. Game day is the perfect time to break out your famous fish fry and wait for the masses to collect under your tent with their empty white paper plates and smiles. Don't forget the ketchup and hush puppies!

    Barbeque

Barbeque is an art that I have not mastered, but I sure do appreciate it! It's good to have a friend who is a grill master to help fill your belly full of delicious ribs before kick off! Football season is about the sights and smells surrounding the stadium before the game even starts. I love seeing the masters of the grill wearing their aprons, basting their ribs with that prideful game day glow.

    Kabobs

Kabobs are a tailgating favorite for their ease of edibility. Grab that stick for a meal on the go as you roll through the parking lot to mingle with the other fans (and maybe steal a few bites of whatever they have cookin'). Stab some marinated steak, chicken, onions, and peppers on a stick and throw it on a grill. Kabobs are also super easy to prepare the night before, just throw all your ingredients into large plastic bags or tubs. Here is a useful tip: gloves. Take along some gloves to grab and stab those slippery pieces.

    Gumbo

Okay, I am super duper picky about gumbo and it is all related to one unfortunate incident when I found a fish eyeball in my gumbo at a large group event. Well, ever since the fish eyeball, I must first off personally know my gumbo maker and be able to judge their ingredient choosing process or I will just make the gumbo myself, sans eyeballs. But, there is nothing better than a warm bowl of good gumbo on game day. Gumbo is another easy way to feed the masses.
