Railroad Repairs to Close Bert Kouns Near Auto Mall This Saturday

If you work the night shift on weekends and your normal travels put you on Bert Kouns near LA 3132 in Shreveport, you're going to need to find an alternate route this coming Saturday.

A notice issued by the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development warns all drivers that this Saturday, March 14, Union Pacific Railroad crews will be performing needed repairs on the railroad crossing on Bert Kouns (LA 526) near the auto mall in Shreveport. This crossing is located approximately 1,200 feet north of the interchange with LA 3132.

DOTD notes this closure will be for one night only, from approximately 9:00 pm on Saturday, March 14 to 9:00 am on Sunday, March 15. Additionally, this will be a total road closure, with no exceptions. ALL vehicles will need to utilize an alternate route.

Suggested alternate routes include LA 3132, LA 523, and LA 1. Detour signage will be in place.

As with any project of this nature, work will be performed "Weather Permitting" and inclement weather could delay, extend or alter in other ways the scheduled work day/hours.
