Hey Fishermen! Bassmaster Is Returning Right Here to the Red River
Yesterday afternoon, anglers from all over Northwest Louisiana got some incredible news when officials from B.A.S.S., Bass Angler's Sportsman Society, made the announcement that B.A.S.S. would finally return to Red River!
In the announcement, B.A.S.S. listed the schedule for the 2022 Opens Circuit, which includes nine separate tournaments in three divisions.
The division of interest to local anglers is the Central Division and B.A.S.S. listed the three tournaments in that division as:
Central Division
- April 28-30, Ross Barnett Reservoir, Ridgeland, Miss.
- Sept. 22-24, Red River, Shreveport-Bossier, La.
- Oct. 20-22, Sam Rayburn Reservoir, Jasper, Texas
Of course, Bassmaster is no stranger to The Mighty Red as we hosted the Bassmaster Classic in 2009 and 2012, but this will be the first time B.A.S.S. has been here since the 2018 Central Open won by South Carolina pro Patrick Walters.
In an article on bassmaster.com we read, “Shreveport-Bossier City is excited to host the 2022 Bassmaster Open on the Red River,” said Kelly Wells, executive director of the Shreveport-Bossier Sports Commission. “We look forward to providing world-class hospitality for anglers and their families here in Sportsman’s Paradise! We also want to give a special thank you to the Red River Waterway Commission for co-hosting this incredible event.”
Along with the immediate winnings that the Red River B.A.S.S. competitors will be vying for, a coveted slot in the Bassmaster Classic will go to the winner as long as that angler competes in all three tournaments of the division.
