LDWF Rescues Stranded Duck Hunters from Frigid Red River
In the midst of this crippling winter storm that has put a death-grip on most everyone in the northern part of the state, the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries has again earned our highest praise.

You might recall just last week, LDWF along with a concerned Louisiana hunter, were involved in the heroic rescue of four victims of a boating mishap that left the four boaters completely immersed in the frigid waters of Bayou Cocodrie, just south of Ferriday, Louisiana.
And now, we have learned from a Facebook post from LDWF, that local wildlife enforcement officers in Bossier Parish have dawned their "Superman capes" and safely rescued a couple of duck hunters from Red River.
According to the Facebook post, after receiving information about two duck hunters stuck in shallow water and mud in the Red River, LDWF agents immediately responded and after making contact with the hunters, were able to successfully retrieve the hunters and transport them back to the boat launch.
Thankfully, neither of the hunters required any medical attention, but with the heavy freezing rain falling at the time, and temperatures down into the mid-twenties, who knows what might have become of these hunters had those agents not so bravely responded.
So, while we are thanking all those who are braving these elements to keep the rest of us safe, including the power company linemen, medical staffers, police and fire fighters, we should also remember to heap a word of praise on the "other" first responders, our local wildlife agents.
