It's those challenges that many have learned to overcome simply through preparation.

While it's always interesting, even amusing at times, to watch a young person head for the local Walmart to stock up on supplies for their first apartment or house, it's usually not until they have been there a week or two that they head back to Walmart to get the real essentials.

While they remember little things like washcloths, trash cans and silverware, they forget to pick up Tony Chachere's. Sure, they only have to cook one meal before they realize they have made a grave mistake, but you get the picture.

There are a number of things that are "must haves" for every home in the Bayou State. Now, I won't bore you with the obvious things like mosquito spray or a fleur de lis wreath for the front door, because those are givens.

However, for anyone who has just moved to Louisiana, these are items you'll need, and probably will need very soon. If you don't already have them, it won't be long, you'll see the error of your ways.
