When Spring is in the air in Northwest Louisiana the boats are on the water. The fish are biting and even those who only fish a few times each year, know that now is the time to go!

When I was growing up, my family owned a little cabin on the west side of Lake Bistineau where the lake bends. Now, a good portion of my childhood memories are under water.

Giant salvinia has been a big problem at Lake Bistineau. Pretty soon, a solution will be introduced to the lake...salvinia-eating weevils.

Sunday evening a couple guys in their early 30’s decided to do a little fishing on Lake Bistineau.  From what we’re told, they got turned around in the darkness of the night and somehow ran the boat aground.  Starting to sound very Gilligan’s Island-ish isn’t it?  Anyway, once the boat was beached they decided to hoof it back to the boat launch.  Well, bad turned worse and they managed to get lost
