Of course it's Halloween so most of us parents will be headed off with the kids this evening for our annual trek around the neighborhood hoping to get hold of a few of the kids Tootsie rolls before they gobble them all down, but aside from that there's really a lot of other things to get into this weekend.  

Here's a list of all the cool things we found.

  • One of the main attractions is the Louisiana State Fair which is entering it's second weekend with a roar.  Along with all the "fair food," awesome rides, midway games, competitions, exhibits and livestock, you'll want to catch the live entertainment from The Justin Merritt Band tonight (Friday) at 6:30, 7:30 and 8:30. Tomorrow, the 16th Annual Gospel Music Celebration begins at 11:30 am and then Frank Foster will play at 8:30 pm. Plus, make plans for the annual PRCA Rodeo tonight and tomorrow night in Hirsch Coliseum beginning at 7:00 pm.
  • Enjoy some awesome Louisiana cooking at help the River Cities Chapter of Bikers Against Child Abuse this Saturday at the Taste of Louisiana Cook-Off at Scot's All American Cycles on Benton Road in Bossier. They'll start cooking at 8am and we'll be able to buy bowls/plates of it for only $5 after the judging at 12:00 pm.
  • The Haughton Market & Artisan Fair is open again Saturday starting at 12:00 pm at Ivey Lumber on Highway 80 in Haughton across from Brookshire’s. Produce, prepared foods, baked goods, canned goods, crafts, and product consultants available.
  • Tomorrow you'll also want to take in the Shreveport Farmer’s Market.  The market will once again be at Shreveport’s Festival Plaza and will run every Saturday through November 22.  The hours at 8 a.m. until noon in both pavilions.
  • The Great Pumpkin Patch at Provenance is open through October 31.   The gates are open every day 11 a.m. until 7 p.m. There’s even a story time at 6 p.m. All of the proceeds from the pumpkin sales will go to The Montessori School for Shreveport.

"Before I Go to Sleep" - After suffering a horrible accident, a woman wakes up each day with no memory of what has happened before—but every day she gets closer to the terrifying truth. Directed by Rowan Joffe and starring Nicole Kidman, Colin Firth, Mark Strong, Ben Crompton

"Saw 10th Anniversary" - Celebrating the 10th anniversary of the movie's first release, this one is back for a limited one week only engagement in theaters.  Directed by James Wan from a script penned by Leigh Whannell, SAW is a psychological thriller focusing on two men who wake up in a secure lair of a serial killer, with a dead body lying between them. The killer, nicknamed "Jigsaw," leaves them tape recorded messages with details of how to make it out alive. The only way for one man to make it out alive is to do the unthinkable. The two men desperately try to find a way out, while also trying to figure out who's behind their kidnapping.
