This morning we had the pleasure to spend some time with television and film actor Kirk Cameron about his upcoming visit to the Shreveport area with his "Love Worth Fighting For" national marriage event tour.

Cameron will appear at Summer Grove Baptist Church on Friday, October 16 and this three-hour event will begin at 7:00 p.m.

Course you'll remember Kirk as "Mike Seavers" from the hit television series "Growing Pains."  We discussed everything from the dumbest fight he and his wife had ever gotten into, to the new line of coffee he's launching. He also mentioned that "Mike Seavers" may even make an appearance during his visit.

But his main focus in the interview was the demise of the American marriage and how God is the only way to put those marriages back on the right track.

Through comedic stories, life-experiences, music and prayer, Cameron and musical guest Warren Barfield will teach singles, engaged, newly married and veteran couples about ways to encourage and strengthen a marriage.

The heart of the event emanates from the storyline of Fireproof, a hugely popular movie that features Cameron playing the role of a firefighter who seeks to save his crumbling marriage.

"We’ve taken Fireproof and transformed it into a live event," Cameron says. “Along with wonderful music and our personal stories and experiences, we’ll provide insight and teaching from the Bible on the subject of the most important relationship on the planet."

Throughout the past seven years, the Love Worth Fighting For tour has reached hundreds of thousands of people across the country, many exclaiming the lasting positive affects the tour had on their marriage. Cameron and Barfield want to continue to tear down more barriers, come together around the gospel, and build up more marriages and families.

“Marriage is one of the few things we can't afford to lose. We can lose our jobs, our savings, our friends, but we can bounce back from that. I don't want to come to the end of life and find that I've lost the love of my wife and the respect of my kids. Those are the important things...the things worth fighting for,” added Cameron.

Tickets range from $20 to $50 each and are available as reserved seats or general admission for singles, couples and groups of 10 or more.
