Bossier City is coming together to support one of its own – Parkway High School graduate, Dana Bailey Coya!

Whether you knew her on the softball field, as Miss Parkway High School 1995, or as the fun, silly girl who just seemed to brighten your day, many knew her as “friend!”  Since graduation, Dana has gone on to become a wife and mother of 4 boys, a teacher, servant leader and missionary.

In January, Dana was diagnosed with a form of malignant melanoma that started externally and has aggressively spread internally. This has brought the Coyas back home to Bossier City for Dana's urgent medical care.  While this would be devastating to any family, two of their four boys have also previously been diagnosed with cystic fibrosis.  So one can imagine the emotional strain this puts on this beautiful young family.

The Coyas have lived as missionaries almost their entire lives together as a family. From Tallahassee, Florida where they met as students (Dana was a Florida State softball standout), they have served as bi-vocational missionaries in Tallahassee, Miami, and most recently, Peru.

Organizers of a "Family Picnic and Fun Day on the Field" hope to raise funds to help meet the financial needs of this challenging season and show a loving support to this incredible family.  The event will be this Saturday, March 15 from 1:00 pm through 3:00 pm at Parkway High School Football Stadium (Preston Crownover Stadium) at 4301 Panther Drive in Bossier City and there are a couple ways you can can participate/help.
