Since David Letterman announced his retirement earlier this week, I've been reminiscing on some of my favorite Dave moments from his show.

CNN has also been reminiscing... check out this video they put together of some of his best and most iconic moments from Late Night with David Letterman.

Also, check out Dave's retirement announcement below.

Unfortunately, I've never been able to see the show live but I have been to the Ed Sullivan theater, where the Letterman show is taped, in New York. I took a trip in 2000 to NYC, and we went over to Dave's theater. I actually got to meet Rupert Jee. Rupert is the owner of the sandwhich shop next door, Rupert Jee's Hello Deli, to the Ed Sullivan Theater and used to frequently appear on the show. Rupert was very nice, and told me he had just returned from New Orleans and thought the food was fantastic. I asked him if being on the Letterman show had helped his business. He said it was everything to him. Before appearing on Letterman, he said his business was struggling. Since then, he's opened up a couple more stores and actually has to spend very little time at the store because he can afford to pays someone to run it.
