As you probably well know, the Bossier Young Marines Program has recently come under attack by the Department of Justice because Sheriff Julian Whittington refused to sign a pledge to remove the mention of God and voluntary prayer from the program.

Because of the sheriff's refusal, the program has forfeited it's Federal funding.  In an effort to replace the much needed funds to continue this incredibly successful youth program, Kiss Country launched the "In God We Trust" campaign.

That campaign has already made huge strides in replacing the lost funds, but there is still a shortfall, so the effort continues.  And tomorrow, Friday, July 26th, there will be another opportunity for local citizens to aid the cause.

The Louisiana Department of Veterans Affairs has planned a box lunch fundraiser to benefit the Bossier Sheriff’s Young Marines program at the Northwest Louisiana Veterans Home, located at 3130 Arthur Ray Teague Parkway.

Lunches will be available from 11:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m.  The lunch will include chicken-and-sausage jambalaya, bread and dessert.  There is a suggested donation of $10 per box.  All proceeds go directly toward the Bossier Sheriff’s Young Marines program.
