Opening weekend of the Christmas Festival of Lights in Natchitoches with things going all day Saturday from 8 a.m. til 9 p.m. Including the Matthew Davidson band at 12:30 Saturday afternoon and Tab Benoit starting at 6 p.m. Saturday night and a big fireworks show on Cane River Lake.

The 2nd Annual Benton 5k Run/Walk for Downs begins Saturday morning at 8 at the Benton Sports Complex. This year it honors 6 year old McKenna Gates, a dancer at Vicki’s School of Dance with Downs Syndrome. Registration is only $15 and all proceeds go to the local Up With Downs Organization.
The Jambalaya Jubilee Fundraiser to raise funds for the Foundation for Kids with Rheumatoid Arthritis runs Saturday from 10am to 10pm at 5544 Greenwood Road next to Leather Shack. They’ll have bands, food and drink and prizes and all kinds of kid activities including space walk, face painting and loads of games. Admission is only $3 at the gate.
