I am a Shreveport boy, born and raised. The most time I have ever spent outside of this area is when I spent two years overseas with the USAF. I love the diverse artistic and musical past, the architecture, and the history that this city has, about which many of us natives may not even know.

This video, shot in 2012 for C-Span, by historian, photographer, and author Neil Johnson, shows what our history and culture has made us here in the "Port." Plus, we can see what has changed in the three short years since it was filmed.

Another reason I like it is that he compares Highland (my neighborhood) to New Orleans, and I've always said that Highland is the NOLA of Shreveport!

Check out the video. You might even learn something about the place we call home.
