Bossier Connection to this Special LSU T-Shirt
SHREVEPORT, LA - If you are an LSU baseball fan, you have probably been following the story of Hayden Travinski. He’s the Bossier City player who has made his way to the starting lineup for the Tigers and he batted cleanup during game one of the College World Series in Omaha. He helped the Tigers get the win against Tennessee to open the action. But a few weeks ago, his Dad, Jason Travinski wanted to have a t-shirt he could wear to support his son.
And now, this specially designed shirt is all the rage for Tiger fans in Omaha. In fact, baseball fans all around the state are trying to get their hands on one. This shirt has a pretty cool story to it. Coach Jay Johnson told Travinski he was going to pinch hit against Ole Miss back in April.
The player could not decide if he should wear his shades or not and he kept putting them on an off. He ultimately decided to wear them and he hit a walk-off three-run home run.
That sparked the design for the shirt. His pops, Jason doodled the design on a sticky note with the sunglasses, a mustache and soul patch. His son loved it and everyone on the team’s group text said they wanted one. That began this amazing phenomena for this collector’s item.
Jason told NOLA.com “There's really not a lot of merchandise like that, that LSU produces for different players and stuff like that, and I was like, ‘Man, I just want a shirt of my kid,' you know? I wasn't really like one of those, 'Let's try to capitalize on this.'”
The younger Travinski is now a leader on the team, batting .427 in 82 at-bats.
Bossier City’s Sign It Company has been trying to meet the demand, but it’s been tough to keep up and some knock off designs are also out there. Sign It owner John Stephens says he even had to make a quick trip to Dallas this week to pick up more ink and shirts. Stephens coached Travinksi in travel ball when the star player was in grade school
The Bossier City Hat Company also jumped in to get some of these hats to the Travinski family. Owner Michael Barrett made a few and now the demand is going crazy.
Expect to see these signs throughout the stands as the Tigers continue their run at the College World Series in Omaha.
