Two President Barack Obama-appointed U.S. attorneys in Louisiana have announced their retirements.

On Friday, U.S. Attorney Stephanie Finley who served for the Western District of Louisiana announced her retirement after 25 years of federal service.

FInley, appointed in 2010, served 21 years as an attorney for the U.S. Department of Justice and is a 28-year veteran of the U.S. Air Force.

U.S. Attorney Kenneth Polite, who served in New Orleans within the state's Eastern District, also announced his resignation Friday.

Polite was appointed to his post in 2013.

Though neither Finley, nor Polite, gave specific reasons for the timing of their resignations, the practice of federal attorneys retiring after the election of a new president has become commonplace.
