I decided to go see the new Iron Man movie since Gary loved it. I have to admit it’s been a few years since I’ve gone to see a movie in the theaters and now I remember why. As I made my way into the Regal Movie Theater on the Boardwalk, I was a little concerned by all the kids in line with me to get their popcorn, medium coke (which anywhere else would be an Xtra large) and Butterfinger Bites.

But I was about to see Robert Downey Jr. at his finest, so I forgot about it rather quickly.

We got into theater 3 and noticed it was pretty full, but saw a few seats in the very back row that would be perfect since they were right in the middle. We took our seats and got situated -- my drink in my holder, his drink in his and put the popcorn in the middle to share (ahhhh).

To the right of us we noticed a couple of young kids -- they looked 6 to 8 years old, NOT 13. (Iron Man 3 is PG-13!) No sooner did we notice these two young kids that three tweens showed up and took the three seats to the left of us. Uh oh.

As the movie started, the tweens were no where to be found. About 10 minutes into the movie is when they decided to return to their seats with Xtra large popcorn, cokes, candy and more. All of that was gone in about five minutes, so out they go again.

Now, this wasn’t even the annoying part. That came when they decided to start arguing over the cash that they no longer had. At that point, my date had no choice but to shush them. The kids then decided they must had lost the money on the ground so they used the flashlight on their cell phone to light up the floor all around them to search for it.

After not finding it and running down the stairs and out of the theater AGAIN, we thought we finally some peace. Nope, not going to happen!

The girl sitting directly to my left then pulled out her headphones and phone to play games. Yet again the back row was lit up and now the faint sound of music is disrupting our enjoyment.

What the heck? What is going on with kids these days? Where’s the respect? And why on earth would you spend upwards of $10 to play a game and not watch the movie you just paid for?

I feel really old, but I have to say it: kids these days! Ugh. What would you have done?
