Bossier Vet Issues Urgent Easter Warning: This Popular Flower is Deadly to Cats
We are always looking for ways to keep our pets safe, but a common holiday tradition could be hiding a deadly secret in your living room.
With Easter lilies already hitting the shelves in Shreveport and Bossier stores, local experts are issuing a high-alert warning to cat owners.
The 3-Day Countdown: Why Lilies are Lethal
Dr. Hanna Green of North Airline Animal Hospital in Bossier City recently went viral for a warning every cat parent needs to hear: Certain lilies are highly toxic to felines. We aren't just talking about the petals, the pollen, the leaves, and even the water in the vase can trigger fatal kidney failure in less than 72 hours.
Dr. Green’s advice is simple: Leave the lilies at the store. If you receive a bouquet this season, pluck the lilies out before they ever cross your threshold. A beautiful centerpiece isn't worth the life of your pet.
Hidden Dangers in Your Louisiana Backyard
It’s not just the indoor plants we have to worry about. The Sago Palm, a staple in Louisiana landscaping, is equally dangerous for dogs. While they add a beautiful tropical touch to our yards, every part of the plant, especially the seeds, is toxic.
Ingestion can lead to severe vomiting, seizures, and total liver failure. If you have a curious pup and a Sago Palm in your yard, it may be time to rethink your landscaping.
A huge thank you to the crew at North Airline Animal Hospital for keeping the 318 informed and our furry best friends safe!
