july 4th

I just stepped outside to get my morning paper (what can I say, old habits die hard), and I had occasion once again to thank Willis Carrier. Although his name is not mentioned in the same breath as Thomas Edison, Nikola Tesla or Bill Gates, it should be...

With July 4th gas prices at their lowest in 12 years, more traffic than usual is expected on the nation's roadways this year.  With that comes the likelihood of more traffic fatalities.  The National Safety Council (NSC) estimates that as many as 582 Americans will lose their lives on the road over the holiday, with another 66,000 injured.  That's the N...

July 4th is here. It is the birthday of our great country. A time to celebrate with family and friends as we barbecue, drink festively, and blow things up!

A local man who's known for dressing up as Thomas Jefferson and reciting the Declaration of Independence will be doing so several times on July 4.

Here in Kiss Country we take the Fourth of July pretty seriously.  And it's mainly because so many of our men and women have given so much for our country in the United States Armed Forces.

First off, let us say that fireworks can be extremely dangerous when used improperly so we do not encourage this type behavior.  But, if nobody got hurt and you got it on video and posted it on YouTube, it's only fitting that we should point it out for the world to get a good laugh, right?

The Fourth of July is only a week off, but the work behind the scenes has been going on for months for the KTBS 3 Independence Day Festival at Festival Plaza in downtown Shreveport.
