The Fourth of July is only a week off, but the work behind the scenes has been going on for months for the KTBS 3 Independence Day Festival at Festival Plaza in downtown Shreveport.

That work will be obvious to all festival goer's as this year promises to be one of the best ever!

The day will kick off with the Farmer’s Market with fresh produce for sale.

The Kiddie Section will be inside Riverview Hall and will feature Dr. Eric LeBlanc as the Tooth Fairy.  Loads of other child friendly entertainment will also be outside for the kids to enjoy. The Red River Waterway Commission will also be on hand and with their mission to make sure children wear a life jacket while on the water, they'll pass out free lifejackets to the kids while supplies last.

There will be a cook-off sponsored by Brookshire’s, and country music lovers will be delighted to see performances from super stars B.J. Thomas and Rodney Atkins.

Of course, the star of the Festival is always the fireworks display which will begin around 9:15 pm on the Shreveport Riverfront.
