Suspect Shot Dead After Opening Fire on Shreveport Police Officers
A hostage situation turned into a shootout in Shreveport Sunday morning. It happened in a neighborhood near the State Fairgrounds.
KSLA reports the suspect was shot by police after he opened fire on them. The suspect was pronounced dead at a local hospital.
Police got a call just before 11 a.m. from a woman saying she and at least one other victim were being held hostage in the 3200 block of Exposition Ave.
When patrol officers got to the scene, a male suspect fired at least one shot at them before trying to flee on foot. He was caught and taken to University Health.
No officers were wounded. A gun has been recovered.
The officers involved are now on paid administrative leave which is standard procedure.
