There are emergency preparation supplies that qualify for a tax exemption if purchased on Disaster Preparedness Sales Tax Holiday weekend. Keep in mind there are some price limits on certain items, you don't need to take a piece of paper to claim the tax exemption, you just shop for those items on the dates that your state of residence allows you to. The 2018 Disaster Preparedness Sales Tax Holiday Weekend for Texas is April 28-30 and for Louisiana it's on May 26- 27.
