South Bossier Bridge Closure Could Make Traffic Nuts This Week
Is it just me or has everyone noticed that we have more road construction projects going on now in Caddo and Bossier parishes than ever before?

With road construction projects going on again this Wednesday and Thursday on the two inside lanes of I-49 southbound at the Hollywood/Pierremont exit, the closing of the exit ramp from I-20 East to I-220 west at the new Barksdale access, the construction of a new bridge on Highway 1 over Caddo Lake, there's now one more area you'll want to avoid.
Starting this morning, Monday, August 1, the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development is closing the LA 527 bridge over Flat River in south Bossier Parish for a full week.
This bridge is located just east of the intersection with US 71 near Taylortown.
According to the Louisiana DOTD, the closure is necessary to allow crews to perform repairs to the bridge pilings. And they advise that this is a total bridge closure and all vehicles will need to detour.
Suggested detour route is to use US 71 to LA 154 to LA 527
As with all other DOTD construction projects, the work will be done weather permitting, so the date of reopening the bridge is tentative.
