Meet a Major Prom Gown Designer — Right in Bossier City
You've seen Mac Duggal's gowns: They've been showcased in movies including "Titanic," "Oceans 11" and "Country Song," according to the Chicago Daily Herald.
Carrie Underwood, Paris Hilton and Cybill Shepherd all have slipped into his designs, and Betty Cantrell, Miss America 2016, donned one of his gowns for the talent portion of the major pageant, the Daily Herald writes.
Mac Duggal has been creating stunning fashion for more than three decades. He began his life in New Dehli, India, as Manmohan Duggal, but moved to the United States when he was 23. He incorporated the "glorious fabrics and colors that are hot and spicy like the fashion and cuisine of his homeland" into his gown designs, according to his website. He expanded to prom and pageant gowns, now available in 32 countries.
"Knowing that today’s woman is dynamic both in fashion and life, Mac Duggal creates gowns that touch the very essence of the woman who wears them," according to Mac Duggal's website. "Mac Duggal designs for a sophisticated woman who lives in harmony with life and herself and wants to live the fantasy, giving every woman an opportunity to be chic, to conspire between reality and desire."
His daughter, Ieena, is pursuing her own label after spending years following him around his design house.
"When I decided I wanted to follow in his footsteps as a designer his primary lesson was 'crawling is acceptable, falling is acceptable, quitting is not,'" Ieena said, according to Forbes. "He also reminded me that along with my unstoppable passion for my career in fashion I should always remember that there is nothing more truly artistic than to love people."
