On May 6th, 2023, Shreveport Police responded to a domestic incident and reports of shots being fired in the 4700 block of Westwood Park. As officers arrived, it was discovered that Demario Johnson was allegedly holding the victim and her 10-year-old daughter hostage, after firing shots at the victim’s 15-year-old daughter when she escaped the residence to contact police.

Shreveport Police Special Response Units entered the residence and found no one present. It was later determined that the victim had escaped and was safe. The victim later stated that no shots were actually fired. Due to this investigation officers made contact with Demarrio Johnson and found him to be in possession of a firearm. Further investigation revealed that Johnson was prohibited from possessing a firearm due to being a convicted felon.

Johnson was arrested for one count of being a felon in possession of a firearm.

We are required to remind that suspects are innocent until proven guilty.
