Shreveport PD Arrest Convicted Felon With Possession of a Firearm

SHREVEPORT, LA- Another item for the SPD Gunmuncher has been taken off the streets of Shreveport with the arrest of another felon in possession of an illegally owned firearm.

On July 8th, 2023, around 7:30 p.m. Shreveport Police patrol officers conducted a traffic stop of a vehicle at Hollywood Avenue and Jewella Avenue. During the stop, officers contacted the driver, Madalane Vonzynda (9-13-98), and found she was in possession of a small amount of marijuana. Further investigation also revealed that the passenger, James Hufstetler (5-6-98) was in possession of a firearm.

Investigation into the matter revealed that Hufstetler was prohibited from possessing a firearm due to being a convicted felon for prior felony offenses. He was arrested on one count of being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm. Madalane Vonzynda was issued a citation for marijuana possession.

The firearm and narcotics were seized as evidence.
