If you’ve noticed a prehistoric shift in the 318 this morning, you aren't imagining things. Eat Like a Dinosaur Week has officially arrived, running now through April 4th, and our local culinary scene is going full "Cretaceous" to celebrate.

What is "Eat Like a Dinosaur" Week?

This isn't just a fun excuse to play with your food. This week-long event is a massive community celebration in honor of the Smithsonian Institution’s “Sea Monsters Unearthed” exhibit, which recently opened at the Louisiana State Exhibit Museum. Shreveport is currently one of only two locations in the U.S. to host these ancient marine predators.

To welcome the Smithsonian to our backyard, locally owned restaurants across Shreveport and Bossier have stepped up to the plate, literally, by creating exclusive, limited-time dishes inspired by the giants that once ruled the oceans.

The "Prehistoric" Menu: Where to Eat

Whether you’re a carnivore, an herbivore, or a sweet-toothed omnivore, there is a "fossil" waiting for you. Here are the participating spots and their must-try dishes:

Bella Fresca: The "Bayou Steak-osaurus Rex"—a premium Wagyu beef steak served with a massive, roasted bone marrow topper that is already the talk of Line Avenue.

El Cabo Verde: The "Infladita Azul Fosilizado" and "Mosasaur Tacos", creative blue corn "fossil" shells packed with slow-cooked flavors.

Mae & Co: Serving up "Stegosaurus Cauli-Bites" (the legendary crispy cauliflower) and a "Steak-osaurus Sandwich."

Ki Mexico: The "Brontosaurus Rib Taco", bold, smoky, and sized for a true predator.

Dripp Donuts: Custom "Dinosaur-Shaped Donuts" that are a massive hit for a quick morning treat.

Giuseppe’s Pasta Café: "Prehistoric Primordial Pasta", a creative take on ancient grains and textures.

Zuzul Coastal Cuisine: "Cretaceous Crustaceans", fresh seafood with a prehistoric twist to match the Sea Monsters theme.

Plan Your Expedition

The Smithsonian exhibit at the State Exhibit Museum is FREE to the public and runs through May 10th, but these specialty menu items are like the dinosaurs themselves, they’ll be extinct after April 4th.

Grab the family, hit the museum to see the Mosasaur fossils, and then head to your favorite local spot to see how our chefs have embraced their inner paleontologist. It’s a "Dino-Mite" week for the 318 you don't want to miss!
