The Bluegrass Festival in Webster Parish kicks off Saturday, September 29 at 10 a.m.

The annual event will take place at the historic Germantown Colony Museum, located 7 miles northeast of Minden on Germantown Road. Shuttle services to the event will be available at the Minden Civic Center beginning at 9:30 a.m.

 

Shreveport Oktoberfest

Oktoberfest 2012 invades south Shreveport at Zocolo Neighborhood Eatery & Drinkery in Ashley Ridge.  With a fully-tented parking lot, festival attendees will feel as if they are in Munich! There will be a variety of German brews in the Biergarten. Brats, pretzels, spatzle and more will make up the OktoberFEAST. Bier Girls, décor and German music will add to the festivities and get everyone in the spirit. Guests are encouraged to wear German garb! Domestic beers and a full bar will be available; musical entertainment will be provided all evening by Bayou Gypsy; and the LSU game will be on for party goers who just can't miss the game. Tickets are $35 and are available at www.ShreveportOktoberfest.com, at Zocolo and both Wine Country Bottle Shop locations. Must be 21 or older with valid ID to attend the event.

College Football

 LSU hosts Towson Saturday in Baton Rouge with a 6pm game time. Watch the game on ESPNU or listen on KWKH 1130 AM "The Tiger"!

Louisiana Tech plays Virginia in Charlottesville at 2:30 Saturday.

ULM travels to New Orleans Saturday to play Tulane with a 2:30 kickoff.

Big Buck Banquet in Haughton

To quote Gary McCoy "They'll feed ya good"! Well, if good eatin' isn't enough (are you crazy?) come on out to First Baptist Haughton's Big Buck Banquet to be part of their Big Buck Contest:

Get your hunting gear ready and purchase that hunting license! The Big Buck Contest kicks off on Saturday, September 29 at 6:30 p.m. in the Family Life Center. Come early for a 3D Archery Tournament and take your chance at winning one of the many prizes! Hear guest speaker Russell Thornberry as he shares his testimony and return Sunday morning, September 30 as Russell Thornberry brings the Word. The cost is free to enter and dinner will be served; however, you must be present at the banquet to participate in the contest. Kathleen "Kat" Arnold Bass Tournament

Benefit team bass tournament September 30th at Red River South Marina. 1 or 2 people to a team. Limit 3 fish per team, 12 inch minimum. All proceeds to benefit the Arnold family.
