Shreveport Bossier Weekend Events for June 22-24

We made it to another weekend in Kiss Country!

Plan for a sunny, hot, humid weekend with high temperatures in the upper 90's. It's a great weekend to head to the Louisiana Peach Festival, or maybe find a cool place to dip your toes, pick some blueberries with the kids or pay a visit to Gator and Friends. The Louisiana Peach Festival is happening right down the road in Ruston this weekend. The peach festival is full of family fun, shopping, music and great food. A few of my personal favorite peach festival finds: the peach daiquiris, ALL the fabulous boutique shops that come out and set up booths with their cute items, and peach ice cream! Details here!

Gator & Friends is an alligator park and exotic animal zoo on Highway 80 in Greenwood. Kids love the petting zoo with miniature horses, kangaroos, ring-tailed lemurs, deer, goats, llamas, a camel and more. The stars of the show are definitely the alligators. Here's your chance to hold an alligator! This is the peak season for Gator & Friends, so they are open 7 days a week. This weekend is gonna be a scorcher, so try to get there early to see the most activity from the animals. Business hours are 10 AM - 6 PM.

Here's a fun weekend adventure for families with young children. Head out Saturday to Hillcrest Blueberry Farm in Desoto parish to pick berries. The farm has blueberries, blackberries, peaches and plums. When you get home, try this cobbler recipe (it's one of my favorites). Don't forget to pick up vanilla ice cream!
