I love a good "future" theory, and while the internet is busy talking about uploading our brains to the cloud, I have some much more specific predictions for our neck of the woods. If I could wave a magic wand and look at Shreveport in the year 2050, here is exactly what I think, and hope, we are going to see.

The End of The "Shreveport Swerve."

By 2050, I’m predicting that potholes will be a thing of the past. Imagine driving down Youree Drive or 70th Street and not feeling like you’re off-roading in a Jeep.

I’m betting on "Smart-Road" technology, where the asphalt actually heals itself. No more orange cones, no more alignment shops on every corner, just smooth sailing from the 318 to everywhere else.

The Great Skyline Glow-Up

We all know the "eyesores" that have sparked a thousand social media debates. By 2050, I’m predicting that the massive, unfinished eyesore on I-20 will finally be a distant memory. I see it being replaced by something that actually serves the community, maybe a massive elevated park or a tech-hub that welcomes people to the city.

And the ugly Gold Building with random signs hanging down it? While it’s been our favorite shiny landmark to hate for years, I think by 2050, it’ll be gone, replaced by a sustainable, glass-walled "Vertical Forest" that cleans our air while looking absolutely stunning in the sunset.

Travel and Taste in the Future

In my 2050 vision, the 3-hour drive to Broken Bow becomes a 20-minute breeze thanks to high-speed transit pods. We’ll be able to hit peak flow state in the mountains of Oklahoma and be back in Shreveport in time for dinner.

Speaking of dinner, while the world changes, some things stay the same: I predict we’ll still be arguing over who has the best nachos in town, but we’ll be doing it from the comfort of our self-driving cars.

Shreveport has so much potential, and by 2050, I think we finally stop talking about what "could be" and start living in the city we deserve. The food is still the best in the galaxy.
