Shreveport City Councilman has authored a measure that would mandate that all liquor stores inside the city limits have a 9pm closing time. The first term councilman introduced the legislation at Monday's council work session and the body will debate the proposal at their regular public meeting Tuesday.

Nickelson spoke at Monday's session, saying that "package stores should have reasonable hours of operation," and that the current law allowing them to remain open until 4am is not.

As part of his measure, Councilman Nickelson has proposed that the city revisit laws determining the proximity of package liquor stores from homes in residential areas.

So, what do you think? Do you support the Nickelson legislation to mandate the closing of all liquor stores in Shreveport at 9pm?
