Severe Storms Rip Through Shreveport Bossier
Severe storms hit the Shreveport Bossier area late Wednesday night and continued through Thursday. Storms knocked out power all over the Arklatex, with over 9,000 Swepco customers currently without power.
The storms have caused havoc not only with power outages, but with commuter traffic Thursday morning as well. Road hazards have been reported from Dixie-Blanchard, North Market, Mansfield Road, to I-20, North Lakeshore, Barron Road and Hearne and Midway.
Several major accidents have also been reported Thursday morning, leaving police scrambling all over Shreveport Bossier.
Matt Hemingway, meterologist with the Shreveport office of the National Weather Service told KEEL News their biggest concern is flooding. The NWS issued a Flood Warning and Flood Watch for Thursday morning.
Shreveport received over 2 inches of rain late Wednesday, and over 2 more are expected for Thursday. The NWS reported they expect the storms to move out of our area by later this afternoon.
