In so many ways Shreveport is a great community to live in. Here's another example. Residents of the Southern Hills neighborhood started a social media effort to provide a great Thanksgiving Meal for first responders. And the community has turned out in a big way.

This Thanksgiving Day spread will be provided to Fire Station 17 on Baird Road. Organizers have been soliciting for everything needed for the special day, from a bag of ice to a fully cooked turkey. This meal will also be shared with police officers who patrol in that same area. The officers are encouraged to drop by and grab a plate of great food.

As you can see, many individuals and businesses have stepped up to provide an amazing spread of food for our local heroes.

Folks are also dropping off rotisserie chickens, turkeys, hams and so much more. They are still looking for some items to be added to this awesome meal.

Here's a List of a Few of the Items They Still Need

Gravy

Salt and pepper

Casseroles (already cooked)

Pies and cakes

If you would like to help provide an item for these firefighters and police officers, you can drop it off at the fire station on Baird Road on Wednesday, November 23.

This is one small way local residents and business owners can say a big "thanks" to these first responders who will be working on the holiday while the rest of us enjoy time with our families around the dinner table.
