I was sitting at Starbucks this morning enjoying an iced coffee and all of a sudden BAM! I heard those three words that turned my head faster than the scent of bacon on a Saturday morning. Pumpkin Spiced Latte. How could this be? Yes, I know we are in the South and it doesn't get cold until the end of December, however it's too soon. Do you remember when Pumpkin Spice season came a few days before Thanksgiving and left shortly after? Now we have candles, air fresheners and anything you can name with the pumpkin spice scent. Against my better judgment, I walked up and I ordered a tall (small) Pumpkin Spiced Latte. I pulled a five dollar bill out and got cents in return. Surely this PSL was about to change my life and was worth the lunch money.

It was already 80 degrees by 8:00 am, so I had to order my PSL over ice. I noticed that several pumpkin spiced items are already in the glass case. It is too soon. I asked the barista what he thought about PSL season and not only did he admit he hated the drink, he admitted he hated the way the PSL's taste, he hated the Pumpkin Spice season. I walked away and tried my PSL in the car. After a couple of sips I realized I could use the extra straw and make it a "new drink" and hand it off to a co-worker. Carter didn't give it the 5 star rating like I hoped he would. We haven't even seen leaves hit the ground. We are still sweating when walking to our cars in the morning before work. Pumpkin Spice needs to stay hidden until leaves hit the ground and the AC isn't running full blast. Maybe the PSL tastes better in 30 degree weather?
