A person would be hard-pressed to remember a time when there was so much road construction going on at one time in Shreveport and Bossier City.

Obviously, construction means that there's at least an attempt to better the road conditions and make travel easier in the twin cities, but the period leading up to that improvement can bring on its own set of problems.

Such is the case this Sunday, September 22, as the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development has just announced that there will be intermittent lane closures on LA 526 (Bert Kouns Industrial Loop) at the Union Pacific Railroad crossing near the Auto Mall in Shreveport.

These lane closures are scheduled to take place from approximately 7:00 am to 3:00 pm, and are necessary to allow UP (Union Pacific Railroad) crews to perform repairs to the crossing at this location.

The crossing is located just east of the LA 526 interchange with LA 3132.

Of course, as with all projects from the DOTD, this work will be performed "Weather Permitting" so inclement weather could delay or alter the expected work day or hours of closure.

DOTD appreciates your patience and reminds you to please drive with caution through the construction site and be on the lookout for work crews and their equipment.

Area residents should exercise caution when driving, walking, or biking near an active construction zone.
