Nova's Heart Needs Your Help!

I love the entire concept of what Nova's Heart does for local pets. If you're not familiar with them, they serve the pets belonging to the homeless population of Shreveport.

According to the Community Foundation's website for Give for Good, they describe Nova's Heart as:

We received our 501c3 in October 2015. In December 2015 we moved our offices over to HOPE Connections and began our Outreach programs in March of 2016. In this short time, we have spay/neutered over 120 dogs, many are the pets of those in the homeless community in our local area. To date, we have vetted well over 200 dogs as well. We have new clients every week coming into the office or calling us asking to be added to our list to spay/neuter their pets. Our education is getting out to the public and we couldn't be happier!! Another aspect of our program is that we provide food for the pets. We started out handing out about 10-15 gallon-sized bags of dog food a week. We are now handing out 600-1,000 pounds of dog and cat food a week. We attend Outreach events every other week on Wednesday evening, handing out dog/cat food. We also have food available Monday-Friday at our office at HOPE Connections. In December 2016 we were awarded the 'Best Charitable Group of 2016' by SB Magazine. We have also begun working with local organizations like The Family Criminal Justice Center, The Caddo District Attorney's Office Special Victim's Unit, Bossier Sheriff's Office, and Veteran's Administration to help the local community when in need of assistance with their animals if the human is in a crisis. As you can see, this organization is working on pure passion for the health of pets of the homeless in our area. Many homeless rely on their pets for companionship, safety and acceptance and will to see to their needs before ever thinking of their own... just like any other animal lover. With that said, Nova's Heart is running dangerously low on food and supplies and is asking the public for help. If you can provide any of the following, I know that they would be eternally grateful!
